Sometimes it's how you look at it.
Humpfh. But I want to be whiny and I want pity, now please... No really, now please. Okay, okay, I've begun to realize that while nothing happens to me that is truly life threatening or really even hair pulling worthy or even sometimes worthy of a string of curses, my life is definitely eventful in an often amusing and sometimes frustrating way. So is it just fair that if I decide to run off to CA for a little convention, that happens to be about what I'm most interested in the world (ooh I ramble), that I should have to return a day late with no sleep after being stuck in D.C. with a scratched eyeball and glasses whose prescription is five years old????? I ask you, is that what I deserve? Well anyway, that's what I got.
But, and here's where the title of this piece comes in, it's a day later and I have brandy new lenses in my glasses and I am looking at the world in a whole new way. Quite literally, a new clearer way! Holy craperola was that prescription bad! I did scratch my eye and have had to wear my glasses, it's not serious, don't fret. The baddest part (I love wrong grammar) was that I had gone to the optical shop a week ago to have my new lenses put in and guess what? They screwed up. So of course, I go and mess up my eye and need those darn glasses. You know, even the sunlight looks different when it is clearly in focus.
So, picture this, blind little me standing on the curbside at Washington Dulles Airport, trying to figure out which hotel shuttle is going by, while it's dark, cold and raining (this is where the camera pans to a sad little puppy). It was quite comical.
Well now I'm back. My conference was wonderful; it was on sustainable product design. My sister went with me and I think she had a great time too. I know I had a great time with her and I think she'd have let me know if she'd had a bad time with me. She also seemed to get excited about the prospect of her company, Adobe, getting more involved with the sustainable thing, which would be FABULOUS.
I will be trying as hard as I can to get one of two possible internships out of this conference. One would be in Charlottesville, VA and the other in Palo Alto, CA. Either would be cool, but I think I'm leaning toward CA. I'll keep you posted.
That's all from my 20/20 perspective...ta ta.
